ArmInfo. Attempts to involve in military escalation are unacceptable. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today during a Facebook live broadcast, touching on the start of large-scale military actions by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to him, at the moment the situation on the borders of Armenia is relatively stable - there are no visible or significant changes. But the main goal of Baku's actions today is to involve Armenia in military operations, he noted.
The Prime Minister drew attention to the fact that the Azerbaijani media and authorities are disseminating reports that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are launching attacks on units of the Armenian Armed Forces in NK. These statements are repeated by a number of Yerevan's partners, calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan to stop hostilities.
"I want to record that the RA is not involved in hostilities. And I want to once again state that Armenia does not have an army in Nagorno-Karabakh," Pashinyan noted, emphasizing that a number of external and internal forces want to involve Armenia in large-scale hostilities.
"This is noticeable, and we state by our position that attempts to involve Armenia in military escalation are unacceptable for us. We will continue to manage this process, although we understand the emotional component of the situation. We shouldn't allow some people, some forces, foreign or domestic, to question the statehood of Armenia," he pointed out.
Pashinyan noted with regret that "there are even calls for a coup from different places." "Under these circumstances, the Armenian state must respond within the framework of the legislation. But, of course, in this situation, a lot depends on the people of Armenia, the citizens of Armenia, who, in my deep conviction, should approach the situation with a sober, cool head, no matter how difficult it may be,," he said, calling to refrain from any <uncalculated, abrupt, adventurous actions>.
Today Baku began full-scale military operations against the Republic of Artsakh. The capital Stepanakert and other cities and villages are under intense shelling. The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan announced the start of "anti- terrorism measures of a local nature".
