At the same time, in his video message, Marutyan stated that the Armenian authorities were defeated in these elections.
He recalled that there are 65 mandates in the Council of Elders, and they are distributed as follows. : "Civil Contract" - 24 mandates, "National Progress" - 14 mandates, "Mother Armenia" bloc - 12 mandates, "Republic" party - 8 mandates, "Public Voice" party - 7 mandates. Marutyan added that thus, the authorities have only 24 mandates.
Regarding the possibility of creating a coalition with other opposition political forces, pointing out that all four political forces that had passed the threshold had ideological and political differences, Marutyan offered himself as the mayor of Yerevan.
At the same time, he called on the rest of the opposition forces to support him without creating a coalition, ordinary and shadow agreements and preconditions as a representative of the opposition force that received the most votes, and to continue their activities in the opposition field.
According to him, in this way the "Civil Contract" will be deprived of power. If the opposition forces do not want to support this proposal, Marutyan proposed another option - new elections.
Marutyan said that the opposition can ensure that a quorum is not ensured at the first meeting for the mayoral election, for which purpose 33 members of the opposition factions of the Council of Elders will not take part in the meeting.
