ArmInfo. A team of specialists from the Mother Armenia bloc is studying the reasons for the low voter turnout in the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan. Leader of the bloc Andranik Tevanyan stated this at a press conference on September 18.
According to him, by voting for the bloc, voters actually ensured the defeat of the ruling Civil Contract party. Now the bloc is faced with the task of achieving a change of power in the country. Tevanyan is confident that such a possibility exists, and it is real. <We are starting this process from Yerevan. It is very important that, with the active participation of voters, a provisional government is formed, which will hold early parliamentary elections in a year," said the leader of the bloc.
He noted that as a result of the election results, several plans and options for managing the city emerged. Tevanyan noted that the bloc is ready to discuss issues of cooperation with those political forces that share its approaches and principles. We are talking, in particular, about three basic principles: assessment of the activities of the "Civil Contract" party and personally its leader - Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. The force that wants to cooperate with the bloc should have nothing in common with the ruling party, and support the complete change of power in the country. "We are open to discussions and achieving concrete results," noted the leader of the bloc.
He noted that numerous violations were recorded throughout the election process. <In 2018, citing their inexperience, they accepted violations during the elections, five years after coming to power, they say that, yes, we are surrendering Artsakh, but we are democrats and we do not falsify elections, but we all witnessed these violations. The last "soap bubble" exploded during these elections," Tevanyan emphasized. He added that now the task of the public is to mobilize the forces of the people to remove the current government and form a new one.Tevanyan added that as of the evening of September 18, there are no negotiations on the formation of a coalition of the bloc with other forces. There are only proposals and initiatives, but negotiations have not yet reached the point. <The mandate of a member of the Council of Elders of Yerevan is not important to me, nor is the position of mayor of the city necessary; what is important to me is the change of power throughout the country, which will ensure the security of Armenia and Artsakh. If Pashinyan remains in power, the country will face terrible events, and our main task should be to serve the security agenda," said the leader of the bloc.
