ArmInfo. The international community very clearly expresses its position on the need to ensure the rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and their security. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated on September 13 from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
According to him, the same international community is sending more than clear messages demanding the lifting of the blockade of the Lachin corridor, pointing, among other things, to Azerbaijan's unconditional compliance with the decisions of the International Criminal Court. It also declares support for the territorial integrity of Armenia.
Pashinyan noted that the fact that since 2000 Azerbaijan has purchased weapons worth tens of billions of dollars, including from Armenia's strategic partner, Russia, is a clear confirmation that our country was in international isolation, which was joined by the republic's closest allies. "How Azerbaijan purchased these weapons in front of the whole world, and why Armenia did not do the same," asked the head of government.
He noted that the executive branch is doing everything possible to prevent a new war through diplomatic channels.
Pashinyan also commented on the accusations against the leadership of the republic that it recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, essentially abandoning the Russian option, which involved postponing the discussion of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh for an indefinite period. The Prime Minister again recalled that the Russian proposal was presented last August during a visit to the region by OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairman Igor Khovaev.
In September, Khovaev again arrived in the region in order to get a response to his proposals. Moreover, the Russian diplomat first visited Baku, on September 11-12, and then he arrived in Yerevan on September 13, but already on the night of the [September ]13, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale attack on Armenia. As a result, on October 6 in Prague, an agreement was reached on mutual recognition of territorial integrity by Armenia and Azerbaijan. "Armenia made this decision in order to protect its own territorial integrity. In a situation where Azerbaijan is launching an attack on Armenia and seizing its territories, and Armenia's allies are silent, Armenia was obliged to reach this agreement," he said.
