ArmInfo.Armenia's Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyan held a meeting with Mr Ali Salajegheh, Vice President of Iran and Head of Iran's Department of Environment.
According to the press service of the environmental department of Armenia, during the meeting Hakob Simidyan, thanking for the hospitality, pointed out the close relations between the two friendly countries and peoples, calling for joint efforts aimed at solving environmental problems.
The interlocutors, in particular, discussed issues of ensuring environmental rights in the Araks River basin and cooperation with the Iranian side.
The parties stated that in order to solve the problems of monitoring and maintaining the water quality of the Araks River, more active cooperation, mutual visits, observations and joint events are needed. The parties see a very large field of cooperation in this direction, and for this purpose, Minister Simidyan invited Mr Salajegheh to Armenia.
During the meeting, Armenia's readiness to cooperate with Iran in promoting the global environmental agenda was confirmed.
It should be noted that in Tehran the Armenian minister took part in an international conference aimed at combating sandstorms.
