ArmInfo.<We have recently recorded the emergence of certain doubts in official circles and the political elite of the Republic of Armenia about the advisability of allied ties within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and with Russia on a bilateral basis, as well as about the feasibility of a set of trilateral agreements between Moscow, Yerevan and Baku 2020 -2022 about ways to normalize Armenian-Azerbaijani relations," noted in today's press release of the Russian Foreign Ministry entitled "About the situation around Armenia".
It notes that <against this background, the leadership of Armenia has taken a series of unfriendly steps in recent days, including the launch of the process of ratification of the Rome Statute of the ICC, the trip to Kiev of the Prime Minister's wife A.V. Hakobyan with the transfer of humanitarian aid to the Kiev "Nazi regime", conducting military exercises with the participation of the U.S. in the territory of Armenia.
In this regard, the Ambassador of Armenia in Moscow V. Harutyunyan, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, to whom a harsh representation was made. In addition, a note of protest was submitted, which indicated the unacceptability of the offensive statements of Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia A. Simonyan on September 6 addressed to official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director of the Information and Press Department M. Zakharova and the Russian foreign policy department as a whole. Separately, concerns were raised about the detention of blogger M. Badalyan and Sputnik Armenia radio columnist A. Gevorgyan in Armenia on September 7.
At the same time, Moscow firmly believes that Russia and Armenia remain allies, and all agreements on the development and strengthening of partnerships will be fully implemented for the benefit of the peoples of our two countries. This, among other things, concerns the organization of exercises within the CSTO and the subsequent sending of an observation mission of the Organization to the republic in order to facilitate a settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Russian side will continue to make all necessary efforts for these purposes," the press release reads.
