"The Embassy is aware of the detention of pro-Russian blogger and activist M. Badalyan and columnist for the Sputnik Armenia agency A. Gevorgyan. We are in contact with the editorial office of this news agency.
We are closely monitoring the development of the situation. We are concerned about the fate of the detainees, we will take steps to clarify the circumstances of what happened," the message said.
Yesterday, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia issued a report on the detention of seven citizens in the Syunik region of Armenia, including pro-Russian blogger Mika Badalyan and Sputnik Armenia radio columnist Ashot Gevorgyan. They are charged with illegal trafficking in firearms, their main components and ammunition. An investigation team has been formed. I investigative and procedural actions are being carried out.
