ArmInfo. Despite the existing difficulties, the inhabitants of Artsakh are ready to live in their historical homeland and fight for its future. Former State Minister of Artsakh, public figure Ruben Vardanyan, announced on September 6 at a press conference via video link.
According to him, at this stage it is very important to support the people of Artsakh so that they feel that they are not alone in this struggle. Vardanyan pointed out the importance of any assistance from compatriots, recalling in this vein the wine festival, all funds received from which were directed to help Nagorno-Karabakh. "If a concert is held, then it should be aimed not at shifting people's attention, but at uniting them around Artsakh," the former state minister said.
Speaking about the resignation of NKR President Arayik Harutyunyan, Vardanyan noted that he had known him since 2008, having supported his candidacy in the presidential elections. "I was confident in his ability to implement programs for the development of Artsakh," the former state minister said.
According to him, in a crisis, post-war situation, under siege conditions, the president performs the functions of the commander-in-chief and leader, therefore his position and behavior should be different. , he explained.
At the same time, the former state minister considered unacceptable those speculations around the personality of Harutyunyan, actively exaggerated in the Armenian media. "Such speculations discredit the 32-year-old struggle of the people of Artsakh for their future. Soon the parliament of the republic will elect a new president, and let's show respect for the statehood of Artsakh so that everything goes on legal grounds and in a peaceful environment. It is necessary to contribute to the prosperity of Artsakh, and not its destruction. All those forces that accept that Artsakh cannot be part of Azerbaijan are acceptable to us. We are pursuing the goal of uniting these forces and gaining the support of Armenians from all over the world. For this very purpose, a platform was established in Armenia and will be established in other countries as well. We will work constructively with the state to follow this path," the former state minister noted.
It should be noted that during the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan, Ruben Vardanyan supports the Country to Live party.
