Later, the Kremlin's press service reported that at the talks between the leaders of the two countries "it is planned to discuss issues of further development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, as well as topical international problems," including the situation in the Caucasus. The last time Putin and Erdogan met almost a year ago - on October 13, 2022 in Astana on the sidelines of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia. The current meeting was being prepared since spring, and for a long time it was about the visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Turkey, but in August the plans changed. As the Turkish side reported, one of the key topics of the meeting between Putin and Erdogan will be the prospects for extending the "grain deal" or the search for alternative options.
