ArmInfo. In the issue of Artsakh, it is necessary to be guided by the principle of "it's never too late". Former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, head of the largest ®Armenia¯ parliamentary opposition faction Seyran Ohanyan, told journalists on September 2. According to him, even the changes that are taking place in the Artsakh government system should be considered in a positive way.
Earlier, as the ex-minister noted, there were obvious problems in the system of government of the republic: relations between various branches of power, disagreements in the actions of political elites. From this point of view, the ongoing changes can play a positive role.
Ohanyan called on fellow citizens to take an active part in the rally in support of Artsakh, which will be held today at Freedom Square. The rally, according to the ex-minister, should be so powerful that it becomes a turning point to stop the series of defeats and failures. It is envisaged, in particular, to develop a strategy for the defense of Artsakh in order to more actively promote the idea of its right to self- determination on all platforms. "Artsakh itself has already self-determined after the collapse of the USSR, it is important that this right be recognized by the international community," Ohanyan emphasized.
He added that during its independence, all the attributes of statehood have been formed in Artsakh, including the Defense Army. "Today Azerbaijan demands the withdrawal of all the Armenian armed forces from the territory of the republic, I want to assure you that there are no units of the RA armed forces in Artsakh," the parliamentarian stressed.
He noted that the militant rhetoric of Azerbaijan, the organized provocations, aggressions indicate that Baku, speaking about peace, is taking cunning steps by which it is trying to put pressure on the Armenian side. The long-term goal of the Azerbaijani authorities is to force the Armenian population of Artsakh to leave, and later to take steps to eliminate Armenia itself as a state.
Speaking about yesterday's provocation at the border, as a result of which the Armenian Armed Forces had three dead and two wounded, the ex-minister noted that Baku's goal is to shift the attention of the world community from political processes. Ohanyan stressed that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces intended to seize new heights, and then to continue to put pressure on the Armenian side.
