ArmInfo. Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan announced that he would resign tomorrow. He wrote about this on his Facebook page.
The NKR President stressed that the current unstable geopolitical situation in the world, regional developments and predicted developments, as well as the developments taking place in and around Artsakh, the internal political and social environment of Artsakh directly point to the irrelevance of the need to change approaches and steps, to show flexibility.
"To achieve the abovementioned, it is necessary to change the main actors in Artsakh, starting with me. My biography and Azerbaijan's attitude towards it artificially create a number of conditions that cause significant problems in terms of building our further steps and pursuing a flexible policy. In addition, defeat in the war and subsequent difficulties in the country significantly reduced the credibility of the authorities, especially the president, which seriously hampered the further course of good governance. Therefore, change must begin with me.
Tomorrow I will submit to the people and the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh a letter of resignation from the presidency. I made this final decision two days ago, considering my interactions with all internal and external players and the general public in recent weeks. This is a deliberate decision made solely by me based on the results of the analysis of the data I have," he stressed.
Harutyunyan also said that by his today's decree, State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh Gurgen Nersisyan was relieved of his post, and Secretary of the Security Council Samvel Shahramanyan was appointed Minister of State, who was given broad powers.
"Choosing Samvel Shahramanyan, I took into account his integrity, flexibility, experience in various responsible positions and accumulated knowledge, which are directly related to both national security and public administration," Harutyunyan stressed.
He also assured that he will continue to live in Artsakh together with his family members and will be involved in the security of Artsakh. "This step of mine is also aimed at ensuring internal stability and a strong public order in Artsakh. Despite everything, our internal stability and social solidarity are a prerequisite for any success, from which any deviations or attempts to deviate must be excluded," he concluded.
