Armenia`s government, parliamentary opposition playing political  ping-pong - candidate for Yerevan Council 

ArmInfo.Funds were raised in favor of the National Congress party at an election party on August  23.  

The candidate for mayor from the party running in the elections to  the Council of Elders of Yerevan under number 7, the former head of  the city administration Hayk Marutyan, presenting the main goal and  principles of his team in the upcoming elections, noted that there  are two main reasons for participating in the elections. <One of them  is the city with its many problems. During our three years of  management, we have created systems that should work for many years.  After my unjustified impeachment, I regret that these reforms,  unfortunately, have slowed down, and many processes have started to  go in the opposite direction. It is necessary to go back and continue  the reform process with a new impetus. We and our children should  live in a comfortable, safe and developing city. There is no  alternative to this>, said Hayk Marutyan.

According to him, the second reason for participating in the  elections is the political situation. According to Marutyan, after  the 2018 revolution, the public, excited by the prospect of change,  was waiting for serious reforms. Progress has now slowed or stopped  on many fronts, and in some cases has begun to go in the wrong  direction. According to Hayk Marutyun, the current political  situation in the country is very beneficial for "traditional"  political forces. The government blames the parliamentary opposition  that criticizes it for sins and crimes committed in the past, while  the opposition blames the government for failures in domestic and  foreign policy.

"The government and the parliamentary opposition are thus playing  political ping-pong, keeping public discourse at a primitive level,  which is not in the interests of the state," the mayoral candidate  concluded.
