ArmInfo.China is ready to support any diplomatic efforts and make its constructive contribution to regional peace and stability. Ambassador of China to Armenia Fan Yong stated at a meeting with journalists, stressing that the Chinese side is following the developments around the Lachin corridor and is concerned about the current situation.
According to the diplomat, dialogue is the only way to resolve the problem of the Lachin corridor: both countries should talk and resolve this issue peacefully.
"Let's hope Armenia and Azerbaijan will strengthen the dialogue and resolve the conflict," Fan Yong said. As the head of the diplomatic mission pointed out, the problem must be resolved within the framework of international law and in accordance with international norms, which will preserve peace and stability in the region.
Since December 12, 2022, Artsakh has been under blockade due to the closing of the Stepanakert-Goris- Berdzor (Lachin) interstate highway by Azerbaijan - the only road connecting Artsakh with Armenia, as a result, the rights of 120,000 of the country's population, including 30,000 children, have been violated. Despite the fact that on February 22 the International Court of Justice granted Armenia's demand and ordered Azerbaijan not to impede the free movement of goods, people and vehicles through the Lachin corridor in both directions, Baku has not yet complied with this legally binding decision. In addition, on April 23, Azerbaijan established a checkpoint in the Lachin corridor in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent. And after the June 15 incident, the Azerbaijani side completely closed the Lachin corridor, as a result of which even humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, is not delivered to Nagorno-Karabakh.
On July 26, Armenia sent a humanitarian convoy to Nagorno-Karabakh (361 tons - flour, pasta, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, milk powder, salt, baby food and medicines on 19 trucks), which is still standing in the border zone near the village of Kornidzor, Syunik region RA, near the Lachin corridor. Subsequently, the convoy was joined by 2 more trucks with sweets from the manufacturer's company (9 tons, in particular sweets and pastries) and a truck with pasta (humanitarian aid was provided by Paris, the regions of Ile-de-France, Auvergne, Rhone-Alpes, O- de France, Provence-Alpes-C te d'Azur, New Occitania, the Loire Valley and to the population of Nagorno Karabakh besieged by Azerbaijan).
On August 15, a case of death from starvation was registered in Artsakh.
