ArmInfo.Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan summed up the results of the U.N. Security Council's emergency meeting on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The highest international body admitted the fact of blockade of the Lachin corridor, he said.
"Armenian public can think it is strange I record this very fact as the result of the U.S. Security Council's emergency meeting, but we should not forget Azerbaijan is consistently insisting on the opposite," Mr Pashinyan said.
The discussion confirmed the fact of a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh and the life and security of 120,000 people are in question.
It was also emphasized that the decision of the International Court of Justice of February 22, 2023, which ordered Azerbaijan to take all measures to ensure the unimpeded movement of citizens, vehicles and goods along the Lachin corridor in both directions, has not yet been implemented.
Meanwhile, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is getting worse day by day. Residents of Nagorno- Karabakh performing agricultural work periodically come under aimed fire from the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. "On the one hand, Baku is blocking the passage of 100 tons of flour to Nagorno-Karabakh, on the other hand, it is shooting at residents who are harvesting their grain," he said. This, according to Pashinyan, confirms the thesis of international experts that the Azerbaijani authorities are using famine as a weapon of genocide against the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh.
Nevertheless, the head of the RA Cabinet of Ministers still insists on ending the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, and starting the Stepanakert-Baku dialogue within the framework of international mechanisms, as well as on the peace agenda.
