ArmInfo. Walk through the yards, communicate with the residents, you're going to hear such problems that you would not otherwise know about. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on August 11, addressing officials.
"In recent days, I visited the regions, absolutely unofficially, and fixed problems that were not recorded in almost any report, in any briefing note," he said today, after discussing the last item on the agenda.
Pashinyan urged members of the Cabinet of Ministers to make unscheduled trips to the regions and communicate with the citizens of the country on the ground. "I even agree that for these purposes members of the government use working days with some periodicity. Try to look at life on the other side of your offices and car windows>, he said.
In particular, the Prime Minister noted that roads in Armenia are being maintained "to put it mildly, shamefully."
Then the Prime Minister touched upon road signs <which have not changed since the 1970s>. <For example, a sign to Khor Virap, where many tourists visit, I guarantee that it (the sign - ed.) is at least my age. Imagine the tourists who come and see this>, the prime minister said.
The head of the Cabinet also remembered the quality of the roadway. <On the section of the Dilijan-Ijevan road there is no kilometer on which there would be no pit. Who should be doing this? And why should the country's prime minister address this? This means that some people are not doing their job at all. How can you explain this, Mr. Sanosyan?>, he asked.
Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan acknowledged that there are omissions, but noted that it used to be worse. <Mr. Sanosyan, but my conclusion is that some people are not doing their jobs. I need names and surnames. I instruct you to appoint an internal investigation and put on my table the names of those people who were supposed to make sure that the contractors do all this properly>, Pashinyan said.
The head of government also expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of Internet connection on interstate roads. Turning the high-tech industry minister, he said "There is simply no Internet connection for tens of kilometers of roads," he said. The prime minister reminded telecommunications companies of their obligations stipulated in license agreements.
He also touched upon the problems with the implementation of the "Smart Livestock" program. Despite the assurances of officials that the program is being successfully implemented and the villagers have heard about it, it turns out that its direct beneficiaries, the farmers, do not know anything about it. In this regard, the prime minister instructed the officials of the Ministry of Economy to seriously engage in "popularization" of the program.
The premier is also concerned about the problems of unfinished construction projects that have turned into ruins. He instructed the Prosecutor General to deal with this issue. In response, Anna Vardapetyan said that 250 lawsuits had already been filed against unscrupulous owners. She added that the prosecutor's office is already checking the territories in the center of Yerevan, where nothing has been built for years. Soon, the department will apply to local governments to terminate contracts with developers and owners.
