According to him, the article on NATO accession was once enshrined in the Ukrainian constitution as a goal and a process, but today everyone sees its tragic consequences.

"Neither Ukraine will join NATO, nor will Armenia join the EU, but these decisions are being used as currency for geopolitical conflict. On September 8, an unprecedented trial will take place for Andranik Tevanyan. According to the charges brought against him, Russia is accused of being an enemy of Armenia. Let us recall that Armenia and Russia have signed documents refraining from conducting intelligence operations on each other's territory. This court calls into question these agreements, and with them the corresponding consequences. This trial should be viewed as another link in the process of turning Armenia into a zone of geopolitical conflict," the political scientist emphasized.

It should be noted that the preliminary investigation of the criminal case against Andranik Tevanyan and Aregnaz Manukyan has been completed, and the materials have already been sent to the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction for Criminal Cases. The case has been assigned to Judge John Hayrapetyan. The first court hearing will take place on September 8. Andranik Tevanyan, who was second on the Prosperous Armenia party's election list, was arrested on May 23, at the height of the election campaign. Aregnaz Manukyan was arrested on July 9. The opposition and their allies categorically deny the charges of treason and espionage, calling the criminal prosecution fabricated and politically motivated. According to the charges, Aregnaz Manukyan allegedly passed on the contents of a closed session of the National Assembly to Andranik Tevanyan, who, in turn, translated the information and passed it on to Russian intelligence services.
