ArmInfo.The International Boxing Association (IBA) has officially confirmed that the Junior World Boxing Championships will be held in Yerevan in November-December 2023.
According to the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Karen Giloyan, Armenia applied for hosting the Junior World Boxing Championships, considering the presence of a formed team in this age group.
<Our young boxers began to show serious results. According to experts, there are many serious future boxers among them. Taking all this into consideration, we decided to submit a joint bid with the Armenian Boxing Federation, which was accepted," says the Deputy Minister.
He added that the place and dates of the Championships are still being specified.
It should be reminded that in April of this year, the Youth European Boxing Championships was also held in Yerevan, following which the Armenian team won 1 gold, 2 silver and 10 bronze medals.
The 2022 European Amateur Boxing Championships was held in Yerevan for the first time. Hovhannes Bachkov (63.5 kg) won the champion title, while Artur Bazeyan (57 kg) and Rafael Hovhannisyan (86 kg) took second places. Narek Manasyan (92 kg) became the bronze medalist.
