ArmInfo. Ambassador Armen Papikyan, Permanent Representative of Armenia to the OSCE, made a speech during the session of the OSCE Permanent Council held on July 27, drawing the attention of the heads of missions and representatives of the participating states to the rapidly worsening humanitarian crisis in Artsakh due to the illegal blocking of the Kashatagh (Lachin) corridor by Azerbaijan for about 8 months and on recent developments.
According to the press service of the RA Permanent Mission to the OSCE, Ambassador Papikyan, in particular, emphasized that the complete blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh since June 15, including the interruption of humanitarian supplies through the International Committee of the Red Cross, has led to an acute shortage of food, medicine, fuel and other essential goods. According to him, as a result of these actions, a catastrophic humanitarian situation has arisen in Artsakh.
The head of the RA mission stressed the importance of the necessary steps taken by the OSCE and its executive bodies regarding the widespread violations of the individual and collective fundamental rights of the 120,000 people of Artsakh, as well as the need for the international community to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan and its authorities in order to force them to comply with the obligations set by the decisions of the International Court of Justice. The Ambassador emphasized that the rights and security of the Armenian people of Nagorno-Karabakh must be urgently addressed within the framework of an international mechanism, with international participation and clear guarantees.
