ArmInfo. Azerbaijan's refusal to allow the entry of humanitarian cargo to Nagorno-Karabakh is evidence of Baku's intention to starve out 120,000-strong population of Nagorno-Karabakh, Ambassador-at-Large Edmon Marukyan told reporters.
Thus, according to Marukyan, international humanitarian law and massive violation of human rights have been violated. From this point of view, the ambassador believes, no one can say that the Armenian authorities have not taken or are not doing anything. The country's Foreign Ministry even organized a trip for representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, who studied the humanitarian cargo, submitting relevant messages to their states. "At the diplomatic level, the work is being carried out in full. The steps taken by the Armenian side are predictable and in line with the commitments made in the framework of the tripartite statement of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan dated November 9, 2020," Mr Marukyan said.
He added that the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh is getting worse by the hour. "It is necessary to continue the work, and there is hope that the humanitarian cargo, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, will be delivered to its destination," Marukyan said. He recalled that during a recent trilateral meeting in Moscow, RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan raised the issue of unblocking the corridor and Azerbaijan's implementation of two decisions of the International Court of Justice. "It was then not about this particular cargo, but about the opening of the corridor as a whole," he said.
