ArmInfo. Power in Yerevan must be taken. This is stated in the statement of the Union of Reserve Officers of the National Security Service.
"We have already stated that we attach great importance to the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan, since if the current government wins, this will become an additional means of subordinating the country to Turkish influence. Even today we proceed from the fact that the opposition is able to defeat a candidate from the government only in the case of united actions, therefore participation in the elections is mandatory, and boycotting them for far-fetched reasons is equated with the behavior characteristic of the pocket opposition>, the statement says.
NSS reserve officers believe that "even if the "Armenia" and "I have honor" parliamentary alliances do not present a single candidate in the elections, they are obliged to support by all possible means the political force, including those separated from their ranks, which will act from real opposition positions, will undertake the commitment to selflessly lead the election campaign to defeat the current authorities in Yerevan>, the statement says.
It should be reminded that the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan will be held on September 17. Voters will elect 65 members of the Council, who, in turn, will elect the mayor of the city.
