ArmInfo. Each one making statements on the use of the Aghdam- Stepanakert road serves Azerbaijan's interests, former Artsakh statement minister Ruben Vardanyan said.
He stated that on July 18, representatives of the youth wing of the "Artsakh Security and Development Front" public movement, together with numerous residents of Artsakh, blocked the Akna-Stepanakert road, thereby showing that any violation of the red lines is unacceptable for them, and that they are ready to resist any challenges in the name of free, safe, happy and Armenian Artsakh.
"It is obvious that everyone who makes statements about the use of this road serves the interests of Azerbaijan. If they were really interested in the fate of the Artsakh Armenians, then instead of this road they would have demanded yesterday to open a humanitarian air corridor and apply sanctions against Azerbaijan for the blockade of the Kashatag (Lachin) ) corridor and keeping 120,000 people in a humanitarian catastrophe," he concluded.
In his press remarks following his meeting with President Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia on June 15, President of the European Council Charles Michel said, in particular:
"I emphasised the need to open the Lachin road. I also noted Azerbaijan's willingness to provide humanitarian supplies via Aghdam. I see both options as important and encourage humanitarian deliveries from both sides to ensure the needs of the population are met."
On July 18, Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, advised the Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians to take this chance.
