Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan today received a delegation led by State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research Jens Brandenburg. Ambassador of Germany to Armeni Viktor Richter also attended the meeting.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, at the meeting Andreasyan stressed the importance of ensuring the permanence of successful cooperation in various fields between Armenia and Germany. In particular, she touched upon the ongoing reforms in the field of education and science in Armenia, noting that the Science Committee is being reorganized into the Committee of Higher Education and Science. The Minister also touched upon the German educational programs, which are of interest to Armenian students and faculty.
Jens Brandenburg reaffirmed his readiness to deepen the current Armenian-German programs in the field of science, as well as Germany's support in ensuring the full representation of Armenia on European educational platforms.
Zhanna Andreasyan drew the attention of her colleagues to the fact that the continuation and start of studies of students of Nagorno-Karabakh in Armenia is impossible as a result of the blocking of the Lachin corridor.
"We highly appreciate the efforts of the German government aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and we also count on support in the full realization of the right of students to education," the Minister of Education and Culture said.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
