ArmInfo. Former state minister of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan has presented his view of the temporary resumption of the gas supply to Nagorno-Karabakh with further disruption.
The reasons for gas supply can only be guessed, as information is not sufficient.
"One thing is clear that there was no communication with the Artsakh side on this subject.
"The main goal of this step may have been some decrease in external pressure at a particular moment (Ad hoc), but I am sure that the Azerbaijani authorities also pursued a number of other goals, for example, at any moment, by unexpected switching on and off, arouse constant uncertainty and various gossip and doubts among the population of Artsakh, in whose favor today's interruption speaks. I do not rule out the criminal intent that the unexpected restoration of gas supply after a 109-day break could cause additional incidents and human losses," Mr Beglaryan stressed.
He is sure that, taking into account the pursued goal of generating feelings of uncertainty and helplessness, it is necessary to be aware and always be psychologically prepared for the fact that Azerbaijan can suddenly restore and interrupt gas supply at any moment.
"And in such circumstances, we must refrain from creating additional internal information and psychological turmoil in the event of both restoration and interruption. Based on the foregoing and given the uncertainty of the situation, yesterday the authorized bodies were in no hurry to publish official information about the restoration.
Since June 15, fuel has not been supplied to Artsakh at all, among other essential goods, and serious problems have already arisen with internal movement. That is why the restoration of gas supply to a certain extent would alleviate the hardships of people in terms of internal movement and organization of life, but the blockade itself continues to be the main problem," he believes.
In any case, Beglaryan continued, the Azerbaijani authorities must realize that by depriving them of gas, electricity, fuel, food and other everyday deprivations, they cannot deprive the people of Artsakh of their natural rights and break the spirit and will to freedom.
"The complete blockade of Artsakh, interruptions in electricity and gas supply are manifestations of a crime against humanity, which means that the international community must urgently and effectively eliminate these violations and prevent further deepening of the humanitarian catastrophe. And one of the mandatory forms of its implementation is the recognition and protection of our the right to self-determination, since the humanitarian catastrophe is purely a consequence of the suppression of the political rights and freedoms of our people," he concluded.
