Zakharova: Russia has long had no illusions about France`s ability to make positive contribution to solving NK complex problems

This was stated on July 6 during a weekly  press conference by official representative of the Russian Foreign  Ministry, Maria Zakharova, when asked to evaluate the statement of  the French leader that Paris would continue to put pressure on the  President of Azerbaijan in the negotiation process on the  Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization.

According to the Russian diplomat, the last time something like this  happened was on June 28 in Marseille, "where Macron said that he puts  more pressure on the President of Azerbaijan than on the Prime  Minister of Armenia, and that he is the only one who has a clear  position on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, and that he is slightly does  not single-handedly keep this topic on the agenda of the  international community>.

According to her, there is a process, but there are no results. < Or  maybe he kept silent, because no one has ever seen these results.  And, by the way, no one saw those results, not only in France's  mediation in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement issue, but also in many  other cases that Macron had taken over many times>, the Russian  diplomat added.

At the same time, she stressed that Russia has long had no illusions  about France's ability to make a positive contribution to solving the  complex problems of Nagorno-Karabakh, sabotage the work, and in fact,  the collapse of the OSCE Minsk Group in 2022 through the efforts of  Paris, <adopted last fall The Senate and the National Assembly of the  country of resolutions condemning the aggression of Azerbaijan and  demands to impose sanctions against this country and its officials,  the initiation by Paris of a decision to deploy a civilian EU mission  in the RA with a dubious mandate without taking into account the  opinion of Baku - these are all clear examples of the French agenda  in this regional conflict that requires knowledge, professionalism  and accuracy of actions.

According to Zakharova, these actions of Paris are not aimed at  helping the parties, but at ousting Russia from the settlement  process, and realizing their own political, and sometimes  pre-election goals.  <They not only did not have a positive result on  the negotiation process, but, on the contrary, discredited the role  of France as a mediator in the normalization process of  Armenian-Azerbaijani relations>, Zakharova assured, considering it  just PR.
