Armenia`s Minister of Defense participates in event marking 29th anniversary of Vazgen Sargsyan military university

ArmInfo. Armenia's Minister of  Defense Suren Papikyan participated in a solemn event on the occasion  of the 29th anniversary of the Vazgen Sargsyan military university. 

Congratulating those present on the 29th anniversary of the  university, the Minister of Defense noted that the university had  made a great contribution to the formation of the army. Suren  Papikyan stressed that today, after 29 years, the university is  facing a new milestone, as it becomes a military academy, which  includes the military aviation university. 

"We already have a relevant government decision. In the near future,  a new structure of the military university will be approved by legal  acts. We have set ourselves the task, according to which the military  university should not only be the forge of our armed forces, the most  important educational center, but also become such a military  educational institution in which young people from other countries  will also have the desire and dream to study in it," he stressed. 

Mr Papikyan, expressing confidence that thousands of young people of  the Motherland devoted to their work will still study at this  training center in order to keep the borders of the Motherland  inviolable.

In his speech, Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces,  First Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Edward Asryan spoke  about the history of the establishment of the military university and  current educational activities. The Chief of the General Staff noted  that the graduates of the military university have always made and  are making an active contribution to the increase and development of  the combat potential of the army, so the structure of the university  should become more powerful, as a guarantor of the Armenian statehood  and security.
