ArmInfo. The murder of four servicemen of the Artsakh Defense Army once again indicates that the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan, ignoring the calls and decisions of authoritative international organizations, is trying to achieve its goals with its genocidal actions using military, political and economic mechanisms aimed at the final outflow of the Armenian population from the republic, reads a statement of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, which was read out on June 28 by the Speaker of the Artsakh Parliament Artur Tovmasyan.
According to him, the armed forces of Azerbaijan once again, grossly violating the provisions of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, on the night of June 27-28 at 01:30 local time opened fire from various types of weapons on the positions of the units of the Artsakh Defense Army, resulting in the deaths of four AO soldiers.
As the speaker noted, it is noteworthy that the new incident, which is a continuation of periodically carried out provocations by Baku, as in previous cases, was recorded at the very moment when the negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by the US Secretary of State, are being held in Washington, aimed at for the settlement of Armenian- Azerbaijani relations. This, according to the speaker, once again testifies and confirms that the ongoing negotiations on a peace treaty are nothing but a screen aimed at preventing Azerbaijan from establishing long-term peace and stability in the region.
Expressing concern about the current situation, the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh appeals to the UN Security Council, the leaders of the countries co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group with a call to take concrete steps. In particular, the Parliament of the Republic of Artsakh calls for the application of sanctions against Azerbaijan, to restrain its aggressive aspirations. "We are confident that the application of the policy of double standards further encourages Azerbaijan, making it more and more uncontrollable," the statement reads.
The document also contains an appeal to the Russian Federation to stop the anti-people and genocidal actions of Baku.
The National Assembly of Artsakh called on the delegation of Armenia, which is negotiating in Washington, to immediately stop the negotiations until the ceasefire regime is fully established on the line of contact between the armed forces of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, as well as on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, with the provision of documented guarantees. Otherwise, the continuation of negotiations will mean encouraging the aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan and granting it benefits at the international level.
"Bowing our heads before the memory of those who died for their homeland, we declare our desire to continue their holy cause," the statement reads.
