ArmInfo. The European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) offers 23 positions in the Head of Mission Office, Chief of Staff Office, Operations, Security and Duty of Care and Mission Support.
As the official website of the EUMA reports: "We offer a competitive progressive career in an international environment with a professional atmosphere. It is full time work, in a multicultural environment, during regular business hours, 40 hours/week," they note, adding that the contract will be signed until February 19, 2025, with a trial period of three months.
It is also recalled that, the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA) is a non-executive, non-armed civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Mission. EUMA will observe and report on the security situation along the Armenian side of the international border with Azerbaijan. It will contribute to human security in conflict-affected areas in Armenia and contribute to build confidence between Armenia and Azerbaijan populations. On January 23 this year, the Council of the EU has agreed to form a new European Union civilian mission in Armenia (EUMA) within the framework of the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP).
As stated in the EU message, " The EUMA was formally established by a Council Decision on 23 January 2023. Through its deployment on the Armenian side of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, it aims to contribute to stability in the border areas of Armenia, build confidence and human security in conflict affected areas, and ensure an environment conducive to the normalisation efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan supported by the EU. The exclusively civilian staff of the EUMA will number approximately 100 in total, including around 50 unarmed observers.
The mission's operational headquarters will be in Yeghegnadzor, in the Vayots Dzor province of Armenia. EEAS Managing Director of the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC), Stefano Tomat, will serve as the Civilian Operation Commander, while Markus Ritter will serve as the Head of Mission." The Mission started functioning on February 20. It also included 8 French gendarmes and 15 policemen from Germany.
Let us also recall that on February 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, from the rostrum of the Parliament, arguing the reasons for the deployment of a new EU mission in Armenia, noted that on many Western international platforms, Baku trying to justify its aggression against Armenia, declares that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, increasing the grouping of Russian troops near the borders of Azerbaijan, in tandem with the Armenian Armed Forces is preparing to carry out "aggression" against Azerbaijan, and for this reason Baku is forced to seize heights to balance the situation. "Our Western partners tell us how it is possible, you want to seize the lands of Azerbaijan, to which we have taken the initiative to send observers," the prime minister said. He added that there is no geopolitical subtext in relations with the CSTO and the EU, there is a political agenda, and a specific issue that official Yerevan is trying to resolve.
