ArmInfo. The results of the five-sided meeting in Chisinau are preliminary. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community of Moldova.
According to him, the fact that they are preliminary is due to the need for a response from Azerbaijan As a rule, Pashinyan continued, after the first impressions, the second and third stages begin, during which their influence "on the ground" is studied. In general, as the head of the Armenian government noted, the discussions were useful. One of the important components of the meeting was the confirmation of the agreement reached in Prague on the recognition of the territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the basis of the Almaty Declaration, signed in December 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Thus, Azerbaijan recognizes the territorial integrity of Armenia with an area of 29.8 thousand square km, and Armenia recognizes the territory of Azerbaijan with an area of 86.6 thousand square km. The issue of the future of Nagorno-Karabakh should be discussed on the basis of the format of a direct dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert using an international mechanism so that this agenda is not shelved. The European partners have expressed their positions on this issue.
As Pashinyan noted, an important point of the meeting was the agreement on the use of maps of 1975 in the delimitation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is a confirmation of the borders of the Republic of Armenia within 29.8 thousand square km.
The RA Prime Minister noted that during the meeting the issue of opening transport and economic ties in the region was discussed. Armenia is ready to discuss this issue within the framework of its sovereignty over transport infrastructures, in accordance with paragraph 9 of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.
Pashinyan stressed that the issue of the return of prisoners of war and the fate of the missing persons, as well as other humanitarian issues, was also discussed.
The Prime Minister also said that an agreement had been reached to hold the next trilateral meeting on July 21 in Brussels. In addition, from June 12, negotiations between the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will be held in Washington, and on June 2, a regular meeting of the working group at the level of vice-premiers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan will be held in Moscow, at which the issue of opening transport communications in the region will be discussed.
Pashinyan also said that the next meeting of the European Community will be held in Spain this autumn, and, according to the head of the European Council, Charles Michel, a five-sided meeting will also be held within this meeting.
From a political point of view, the head of the Armenian government continued, it is very important to leave the completed and complete cadastral certificate of the Republic of Armenia to future generations. " We are talking about the recognition of territorial integrity and we are moving towards this goal step by step," Pashinyan said, recalling his recent statement on this issue in the RA National Assembly. "I really want to achieve results as the Prime Minister of Armenia so that we leave to our future generations a completed and complete cadastral certificate of the Republic of Armenia," Pashinyan said, adding that very important steps have been taken towards the formulation of the cadastral certificate.
