ArmInfo. President of the European Council Charles Michel expects effective discussions on the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, which will be held on June 1 in Chisinau within the framework of the political community summit.
"Looking forward to continuing discussions on the normalization of relations between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Chisinau," Charles Michel tweeted . "Essential to reconfirm respect for each other's sovereignty & territorial integrity, & to advance on border delimitation, also to reduce risks in border areas," he added.
The head of the EU also noted that the "Dialogue between Baku and Armenians living in former NKAO on their rights & security is now crucial. Important to refrain from maximalist positions and aim for dialogue. After more than 30 years of conflict, wounds take time to heal. Courageous decisions are needed," Charles Michel said.
The upcoming meeting between RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Chisinau on June 1 will be held in a five-sided format with the participation of European Council President Charles Michel, French President Emmanuel Marcon and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. 47 heads of states and governments, as well as chairpersons of the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament are invited to the summit of the European political community in Chisinau. The second meeting of the European Political Community will bring together leaders from across the continent at Mimi Castle in Bulboaca, Moldova. Now, large-scale road and infrastructure repair works are underway in the village.
