ArmInfo.200 Orientalist scholars from different countries have gathered in Yerevan to participate in the Ninth Biennial Convention of the Association for the Studies of Persianate Societies, which is opening today at the Russian-Armenian University.
According to the RAU press service, scientists from Armenia, India, Iran, Central European countries, Japan, Georgia, Russia, Pakistan, Poland, Tajikistan, the Balkan countries and the countries of the Mediterranean region will take part at the Oriental Conference.
The Association for the Study of Iranian-speaking Communities is represented in dozens of countries and brings together hundreds of orientalists working in various fields of Oriental studies. The founder and director of the Yerevan branch of ASPS is Professor Garnik Asatryan. His team is hosting the Biennial in Armenia for the second time.
A busy week awaits the participants: in addition to scientific sessions, guests will visit Garni and Geghard, films about Iranian culture and history will be shown daily at the RAU Culture House.
