On May 17, the National Security Service of Armenia announced the detention of 1 ton of cocaine, which was brought to the republic by a company that imports fruits from Ecuador. A giant consignment of drugs (its value is estimated at about 250 million euros) came to the republic in transit through Panama, Italy and Georgia.
On May 24, from the rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that, according to preliminary data, the recipient of cocaine in Armenia was supposed to be a well-known company in Armenia engaged in the supply of bananas, the owner of which is a former member of the National Assembly, who is currently on the international wanted list (Mihran Poghosyan - ed. note).
The next day, Mihran Poghosyan issued a statement stating that he had personally warned the director of the National Security Service about illegal shipments of a large consignment of cocaine to Armenia.
On May 29, Poghosyan posted a corresponding video showing how packages of drugs are found in another batch of bananas that arrived at the warehouse of the Mrgeni company.
