ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani side is not ready for peace. This was stated by political scientist Hrachya Arzumanyan, commenting on the results of the Moscow meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan - Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev.
According to the expert, the enemy used and keeps on using military tools, trying to force Armenia to make the decisions it desires. And in this context, nothing new has happened in Moscow. He pointed out that Armenia is in a state of war with Azerbaijan, and for this reason it is impossible to talk about trust between the parties, and even more so, about the search for mutually acceptable solutions. Every time the Armenian side declares its intention to adhere to the peace agenda, Azerbaijan tries to solve the existing problems by force.
, Arzumanyan emphasized, adding that there is nothing new for the Armenian people on the Moscow track. It was on this platform that the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020 actually appeared, as a result of which lands were lost, when statements were made that there is no more the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh, it is allegedly resolved, and Armenia must agree to give up Syunik and Artsakh. This is the policy pursued by Russia and Turkiye. "It should just be borne in mind that Russia and Turkey are weakening, which gives Armenia opportunities that should be used on the second track - the western one, where Yerevan can find other solutions that would help preserve the sovereignty of Armenia and the security of Nagorno-Karabakh," the expert noted.
He added that Moscow is beginning to show a Eurasian neo-imperial approach, in fact not recognizing the independent status of Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and this is nothing new. But there is another approach in which small states have the opportunity to protect their sovereignty, and this protection should be sought on the western track. "But let's see what choice the Armenian authorities will make," the political scientist said.
Arzumanyan noted that even in the issue of the Zangezur corridor, Moscow's support for Baku is obvious, and, according to the expert, there is nothing new in this either. The dispute itself between Aliyev and Pashinyan at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Council confirms what has been said in Armenia over the past three years. "Obviously, Azerbaijan and Russia are strategic allies, it's just that there is no third ally of both states, Turkey, at the negotiating table. It was these allies who organized the military campaign in Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 in order to form the security architecture in the South Caucasus in which Armenia, as a sovereign state, is simply destroyed, becoming either a province or a vilayat>, Arzumanyan emphasized, adding that such a development of events was publicly announced before. In this context, the Armenian Foreign Ministry should use this statement to show that Russia is not a mediator, but an ally of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem. "I am very glad that these days Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced that Syunik is Turkish lands. Thus, although not publicly, Turkey has joined the strategic alliance of Russia and Azerbaijan>, the political scientist stressed.
