Russian-Azerbaijani relations, if we talk about a bilateral basis, are at a high level,  they are also progressively developing, moreover, on the principles  of equality, taking into account the interests of each other and in  accordance with the Declaration on Allied Cooperation signed in  February 2022. We are very happy about this. Russian President  Vladimir Putin stated at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Aliyev  on May 25 in Moscow on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic  Council.

According to the Kremlin's press service, the Russian leader thanked  the President of Azerbaijan for deciding to join today's work within  the framework of the Eurasian Economic Community. <The level and  nature of relations between Azerbaijan and all the member countries  of the Eurasian Economic Community is of a serious, deep importance.  Trade and economic ties are developing progressively and are for the  benefit of the development of relations between all our peoples. I  would like this to continue in the future, especially since the  potential for regional cooperation is very, very high>, Putin said.

Ilham Aliyev, in turn, thanked Vladimir Putin for Russia's efforts  aimed at normalizing relations between Yerevan and Baku. He stressed  that the participation of the President of Russia in the trilateral  meeting scheduled for Thursday in Moscow with the leaders of  Azerbaijan and Armenia shows that the Russian Federation attaches  great importance to Baku and Yerevan reaching a peace agreement.

After Armenia's recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity,  the matter of agreeing on the provisions of the peace treaty will be  much easier, Aliyev assures. <I think that after the recent  statements of the Armenian leadership on the recognition of Karabakh  as part of Azerbaijan, as well as the recognition of the territorial  integrity of Azerbaijan, indicating specific figures for the area of  the Republic of Azerbaijan, the issue of agreeing on other provisions  of the peace treaty will go much easier>, he said.
