ArmInfo.Once again, the verbal skirmish turned into a fight between the opposition and the ruling " ruling "Civil Contract" faction in the session hall of the National Assembly of Armenia.
It all started with the speech of former mayor of Sisian, MP from the opposition "Armenia" faction Artur Sargsyan, to which the representative of the ruling faction Hovik Aghazaryan reacted extremely negatively, who started to oppose Sargsyan. In the end, it turned into a brawl, which was joined by the MPs of the ruling faction.
In order to restore order in the session hall, NA Speaker Alen Simonyan ordered the security service to withdraw the opposition MP from the hall. Sargsyan responded by stating these actions illegal, adding that "the authorities will be held accountable for all of this."
After that, the NA President issued a warning to Aghazaryan and Sargsyan. Speaking from the rostrum of the parliament, Simonyan noted that he personally has no desire to aggravate the situation. At the same time, he described the incident as an organized provocation.
The speaker drew attention to the appearance in the meeting room of the former vice-speaker, representative of the "Armenia" faction Ishkhan Sanatelyan, who had not appeared before. According to Simonyan, the opposition used the incident to then leave the parliament's session hall. The reason is the upcoming government hour, which will be attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The speaker of parliament thanked the security service, asked them to be patient and not succumb to provocations. "The opposition, which has no agenda, has the only goal - to provoke us. Do not succumb to provocations," he said, referring to members of the ruling faction.
