ArmInfo.Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is a war criminal.  Artur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of  the ruling "Civil Contract" faction, told reporters on May 23.

He agreed with the observation that the president of Azerbaijan  behaves unconstructively and does not obey the decisions of  international courts. "All that is obvious and is not contested by  anyone, but it does not mean that the Armenian side should rely  solely on chance and not respond to the provocations of the  Azerbaijani side," he said. The MP recalled that three days before  the talks in Brussels, Azerbaijan had been constantly shelling the  sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia and the positions of  Armenia in order to gain an advantage at the negotiating table. "Our  Armed Forces fought worthy battles these days and did not allow  Azerbaijan to enter into negotiations with us on the terms of  military advantage," the parliamentarian said.

Hovhannisyan noted that Armenia is acting for peace so that the roads  are opened, the country can develop, strengthen the army, so that no  one will ever shoot at the borders of the state. <We have very clear  relations with our international partners, be it Russia, the West or  the USA, and we try to be as constructive as possible on the  platforms they have established. We must fight for the creation of  international mechanisms for the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue, and we  must do everything for Azerbaijan to leave the sovereign territories  of Armenia, which it has occupied. In a word, we must do everything  to be able to sign a document on peace and normalization of  relations, thanks to which we will be able to ensure long-term peace  and development of Armenia," said the secretary of the ruling "Civil  Contract" faction.
