ArmInfo.Second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan reacted to the statement of the parliamentary majority of the National Assembly of Artsakh, amid yesterday's statements by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"The ultimatum demand to the presidents, in my opinion, is inappropriate and insulting. Have you only now realized what is happening? Are you so "naive"?
Even with a strong desire, one could see with half an eye that over the past two years there has been an open surrender of Artsakh. We talked about it publicly on every occasion. The National Assembly of Artsakh, in its majority (except for 4 MPs) with its leaders, did not react in any way to our warnings," Kocharyan noted.
At the same time, he accused the Artsakh parliamentarians of supporting the RA authorities in the 2021 elections. "You supported the Armenian authorities in the parliamentary elections of 21 years. You "did not notice" the mass protests in Yerevan in April-May last year. By your obedience and desire to please the Armenian authorities, you allowed the fate of Artsakh to be decided without your participation. So do not dare to shift the responsibility from a sick head to a healthy one. And it's certainly not for you to judge the level of my patriotism. My approaches have not changed - you have to fight for your homeland, and not imitate the fight, "said Robert Kocharyan.
It should be noted that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated today that Armenia is ready to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, provided that the security of the Armenian population is ensured.
Following this statement, the Artsakh Parliament issued a statement in which, among other things, it called on the former and current presidents of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh to condemn the statements made by Nikol Pashinyan on May 22, 2023. "Otherwise, we will consider your silence as a sign of agreement with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia," the parliamentary factions of Artsakh emphasized.
