ArmInfo. As never before, important are now unity and actions despite any disagreements or ambitions, which are nothing compared with a disaster to befall the Armenian people, reads a statement by Armenia's third president Serzh Sargsyan in response to Armenian Premier Nikol Pashinyan's statement at a May 22 press conference, when he announced the Armenian authorities' intention to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.
"Demanding my response after a clear statement recognizing Artsakh part of Azerbaijan by the defeatist holding the post of Armenia's premier is just impossible to understand - and even insulting. For the last five years, I have been stating on every occasion that Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan. I and the political force I am leading, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), have been stating our principled approach to the Artsakh problem, to this matter of crucial importance, speaking of the destructive steps by Armenia's incumbent leaders. Our statement are not subject to any changes," Mr Sargsyan stressed.
The RPA has been fighting despite all the slander and persecution.
"If some people are 'surprised at some unexpected change of events' and demand that I make a new statement, it is at least surprising. I has remained side by side with my brothers and sisters in Artsakh, committed to my sworn statement I made on the graves of my companions-in-arms to bring the teamwork to the end. Dear brothers and sisters, besides words, actions are unity are important as never before despite any disagreements or ambitions, which are nothing compared with a disaster to befall the Armenian people. I have been considering the Artsakh problems as well as state construction in Armenia my life mission," Mr Sargsyan's statement reads.
