ArmInfo. The Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance of the city of Yerevan (residence in Shengavit) has completed consideration of the petition for arrest as a measure of restraint against the mother of the deceased soldier Gayane Hakobyan in the case of "attempted kidnapping" of the Prime Minister's son. The decision will be made public on May 20 at 3:00pm.
According to human rights activist Ruben Melikyan, the case is voluminous and a lot of materials have been considered, and the judge wants to publish not the final part of the decision, but the entire decision. "Under these conditions, purely legally, the considerations of the court are understandable. However, from the point of view of higher values, it is certainly unacceptable for Mrs. Gayane to spend one more day under arrest, especially considering the fact that she went on a hunger strike>, he said.
Melikyan added that the defense side presented several alternative preventive measures at once instead of detention: from house arrest (on the condition of being able to regularly visit the "Yerablur" pantheon) and administrative control to the payment of bail (approximate amount: 10 million drams) and surety (willingness expressed by ten MPs from both opposition factions of the National Assembly and actor Hrant Tokhatyan). "Unfortunately, the investigator did not change his position and even objected to house arrest," the lawyer said.
On May 17, the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, owned by the prime minister's family, reported on the attempted kidnapping of Ashot Pashinyan, blaming members of the Call of Sons organization, which unites the parents of the servicemen killed in Nagorno-Karabakh. The newspaper reported that members of the organization forced Pashinyan Jr. to get into their car, but he managed to jump out of the car and was hit by another car. He was injured and turned to law enforcement agencies. Later, a criminal case was opened in the Investigative Committee under the article "Kidnapping". Meanwhile, the "Call of Sons" organization categorically denies all these claims.
If the court satisfies the petition for the arrest of the mother of the serviceman Zhora Martirosyan, who died during the 44-day war, Gayane Hakobyan, then this implies a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.
