ArmInfo. What the Armenian opposition warned the people of Armenia and Artsakh about was voiced by President of the European Council Charles Michel. Artur Khachatryan, MP from the "Armenia" opposition faction, stated to journalists on May 15. He noted that by this statement of the head of the EU, in fact, Artsakh is recognized as part of the territory of Azerbaijan. In fact, as the oppositionist noted, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has repeatedly stated the same thing.
<He has repeatedly stated that Armenia fully recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, but if Pashinyan only hinted at such a possibility, Michel stated this in plain text. Meanwhile, the head of the Armenian government does not have such rights, since on July 8, 1992, the Supreme Council of Armenia adopted a document according to which a ban was imposed on the signing of any document recognizing Artsakh as part of the territory of Azerbaijan. In addition, Nagorno-Karabakh is not Pashinyan's father's farm, and he has no right to give it to anyone. Moreover, neither Nikol Pashinyan nor his political force has any relation to the formation of Artsakh, and people of Artsakh have repeatedly declared and continue to declare that they are the ones who decide their destiny>, Khachatryan noted. He added that Armenia has always recognized the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, but Nagorno-Karabakh is not in that context.
Head of the EU, Charles Michel, said earlier that the parties recognized the territorial integrity of each other. He, in particular, pointed to 29,800 sq. km of the territory of Armenia, part of which is about 150 sq. km. km is occupied by Azerbaijan, and 86,600 sq. km of Azerbaijan, which also includes the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region.
