ArmInfo. Baku does not really strive for peace and talk about the so- called peace with Armenia is just a smoke screen for the international community and aimed at to mask its true purpose. This was stated on May 12 at a press conference by former Ombudsman of Armenia, head of the Center for Law and Justice Tatoyan Foundation Arman Tatoyan, presenting a report on the September aggression of Azerbaijan, prepared jointly with head of the IC Law-Center Armenia Siranush Sahakyan.
According to him, the formation of the external image of Armenians as an enemy and the development of a policy of hatred against Armenians in Baku allows strengthening the positions of the ruling regime within the country.
In addition, with this policy, the Azerbaijani authorities propagate in their society the idea of the superiority of the Azerbaijani people over the Armenian people. "When we study videos of torture and mockery (of the Armenian servicemen by Azerbaijanis), it becomes obvious that those who use these tortures are inspired by the words of Azerbaijani authorities, sometimes using the same phrases when committing these crimes," he said.
Tatoyan and Sahakyan also noted the active involvement of civilians in the propaganda and spread of hatred. <If in the past there was a large share of public figures, cultural figures, famous singers, writers and others, now ordinary citizens are also involved in propaganda," he said.
According to the ex-Ombudsman, the Azerbaijani authorities also increased their emphasis on the Armenian Diaspora. "These studies show that there is no division between Armenia and Artsakh, the goal of Azerbaijan is Armenians as a whole," he said.
In addition, Baku uses all the possibilities, including modern technologies. For example, on Google maps they change the geographical toponyms of Armenia in an organized manner: the names of cities and villages of the Republic of Armenia. <With the support of our colleagues from "Hay Dat" America, we have sufficiently cleaned up Azerbaijani toponyms in the Syunik region. Despite this, Azerbaijan continues to work in this direction and this is also an example of occupation, thereby, being confident that the issue with Artsakh has already been resolved, they are trying to form a stereotype that Armenia is also a "historical land" of Azerbaijan>, emphasized Arman Tatoyan. According to him, despite all the talk about delimitation and demarcation, it is obvious that Azerbaijan is not going to withdraw its troops from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
