ArmInfo.Taguhi Tovmasyan, Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights, RA National Assembly, held a meeting with the parents of the servicemen who went missing during the 44-day war.
The missing servicemen's relatives believe the government is not doing anything. In context, they referred to Armenian NA Speaker Alen Simonyan, who stated in Turkey that there are "at least 33 [Armenian] prisoners [in Azerbaijan", without mentioning the missing soldiers.
"For about 9 months, nothing has been said about our children on any sites. And we do not any longer expect the government to do anything," Edik Arevshatyan, a missing serviceman's relative, said.
"According to the available information, we know that our children are alive and in Azerbaijan," he said. However, government agencies are only stating "work is in progress."
"The ICRC stated that work had been started over 303 missing people. It means our children are there. And I want to know why our authorities are not working. What is the problem," he said.
According to the ICRC data released this March, 309 Armenian people remained missing after the 2020 and 2021 conflicts, as well as after the 2022 escalation.
The ICRC Yerevan office registered over 6,000 calls and visits by the missing people's relatives.
Specifically, 62 families applied for discovering their missing relatives' fate, 63 families discovered their relatives' fate, and 80 families were visited.
