ArmInfo.The Republic of Armenia and the Czech Republic note with satisfaction the sustainable development and expansion of political ties and express their unwavering commitment to further intensify high-level political dialogue and economic cooperation at the bilateral level as well as within the framework of the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the OSCE and within other international and regional organizations.
This is stated in the final joint statement signed by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
According to the press service of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the statement, in particular, notes that the parties express their readiness to strengthen and expand cooperation in the context of the initiatives of the European Union, including the Eastern Partnership and the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), in particular the Armenia-EU dialogue on political and security issues, as well as political, economic and sectoral cooperation based on shared values and democracy, on a strong commitment to human rights, freedom of the media and the rule of law. The Czech Republic supports the EU's determination to enhance cooperation with Armenia, highly appreciates Armenia's progress towards democracy and the principles of good governance, encourages further progress and reaffirms its readiness to support Armenia on its path to reform.
The Parties stress the importance of democratic principles, the promotion and protection of human rights, and the rule of law; The Parties underline the importance of sharing the experience of reforms and encouraging the cooperation of representatives of civil society and the involvement of civil society in the reform process; The parties emphasize the need to achieve a peaceful and lasting settlement of all outstanding issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Armenian side highly appreciates the constant efforts of the European Union towards creating favorable conditions for lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
It is noted that the parties consider the deployment of the European Union mission on the territory of Armenia along the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan from February 20 as a significant contribution to strengthening security in the region. Armenia welcomes and appreciates the significant personnel contribution of the Czech Republic to the mission.
The Parties recognize the importance of maintaining international peace and security, the inadmissibility of the threat or use of force, and compliance with the norms of international humanitarian law. The Parties shall take into account the fundamental principles of the UN Charter that all states in their international relations must refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state and resolve their international disputes by peaceful means. They stress the importance of the inalienable right of all states to choose their own political course and alliances. "The parties are aware that the issue of dialogue on the liberalization of the visa regime between the Republic of Armenia and the EU is of great importance. The parties consider the European Political Community a useful format for the European Union and its partners.
Armenia highly appreciates the presidency of the Czech Republic in holding the first CIS summit in the EU Council. The parties attach particular importance to the activation of the activities of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission in order to strengthen mutually beneficial economic, financial and scientific ties between the two countries.
The parties express support for the further development of cooperation and periodic exchanges between the parliaments of the two countries, including through the respective friendship groups.
The parties attach particular importance to the intensification of decentralized cooperation and partnership between the local authorities of the two countries as an additional incentive for the development of bilateral relations. To this end, the Parties express their determination to make every effort for effective cooperation in the areas specified in this Declaration," the document reads.
