ArmInfo. Progress in the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible only if the issue of self-determination of Artsakh is included in the document of the peace treaty.
Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, nonpartisan Taguhi Tovmasyan stated during a briefing on May 4, commenting at the request of journalists on Washington's statement on progress in the negotiation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
She stated that the president of France, the chancellor of Germany, the US congressmen, who presented projects in this regard, speak more about the self-determination of Artsakh than Armenia itself.
In this context, the MP emphasized that it is possible to achieve progress on this issue only if it is possible to transform the political discourse of international partners into a legal document. "I can't talk about other progress," she said. It should be noted that yesterday US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan welcomed the progress achieved by Armenia and Azerbaijan in the negotiations. "A sustainable and fair agreement will be the key to unlocking opportunities for both countries and the region," he said.
It should be reminded that since April 30, under the auspices of Washington, talks have been held in Washington on a draft peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Their final round is scheduled for today.
