ArmInfo. Most of the respondents in Armenia mistrust political and public figures, according to a new poll conducted by the International Republican Institute's (IRI)?Center for Insights in Survey Research?(CISR).
Specifically, 64% of the respondents do not believe any political or public figures, 14% trust Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan, 3% trust Armenia's Premier Ararat Mirzoyan, 2% trust Armenia's ex-president Robert Kocharyan, 2% trust political figure Aram Sargsyan and Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan.
If elections were held next Sunday, 21% of the respondents would vote for Armenia's ruling party Civil Contract, 4% for the Armenia bloc led by Robert Kocharyan, 3% for the Prosperous Armenia party led by Gagik Tsarukyan and 2% for the Public Voice party, and 1% for the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF), 1% of the Republican Party of Armenia led by the ex-president Serzh Sargsyan and 1% for the National Democratic Pole. Interestingly, 12% of the respondents said they would spoil their ballot papers, 30% would not vote for anyone and 20% could not answer.
As regards their attitude to certain structures, 54% of the respondents are satisfied with the Armenian Apostolic Church (25% are very satisfied, 29% are somewhat satisfied), 40% are dissatisfied, and 5% could not answer. Only 34% of the respondents are somewhat satisfied with the government's activities, (8% are very satisfied, 26% are somewhat dissatisfied), 64% are dissatisfied, and 1% could not answer.
58% of the respondents are satisfied with the work of Armenia's police (19% are very satisfied, 39% are somewhat dissatisfied), 39% are dissatisfied, 3% could not answer. 52% of the respondents are satisfied with Armenia's National Security Service, 49% are dissatisfied and 9% could not answer.
43% of the respondents did not mention any of the government's achievements over the last 6 months, and 21% could not answer. Only 6% mentioned development of Armenia's diplomatic ties as the government's achievement.
The Armenian government's greatest failure is, according to 15% of the respondents, the Azerbaijan- enforced blockade of the Lachin corridor, 9% mentioned the failed negotiations over Nagorno-Karabakh, 8% security and border security problems, 7% mentioned territorial losses, 21% refused to answer. Respondents are also skeptical about corruption control in Armenia.
