ArmInfo.According to a new poll conducted by the International Republican Institute's (IRI)?Center for Insights in Survey Research(CISR), 52% of the respondents believe that Armenia is moving in the wrong direction.
Only 36% of the respondents think the country is moving in the right direction.
Interestingly, after the 2018 velvet revolution 72% of the respondents believed the country was moving in the right direction, with only 14% believing the opposite and 13% unable to say. In the course of time, the indicators changed and reached 336% and 52% respectively.
Although democratic reforms are the incumbent Armenian authorities' image, 42% of the respondents are dissatisfied with slow reforms, while 4% are dissatisfied with too rapid reforms. Only 17% of the respondents are satisfied with democratic processes in Armenia, 335% do not think anything is changing and 2% could not answer.
Only 43% of the respondents are interested in political processes in Armenia, 57% are not interested and 1% could not answer.
55% of the respondents are pessimistic about Armenia's future, 44% are optimistic and 1% could not answer.
In comparison with July 2021 and March 2023, decadent sentiments are growing in Armenia's society. Specifically, in July 2021, 26% of the respondents were sure of Armenia's future, whereas the new poll showed 18%. More and more people are concerned over Armenia's future - 29% in 2021, 35% in 2023. Most of the respondents, 60% are concerned over security, 27% are concerned over unemployment, 17% are concerned over poverty, 15% highlighted defense reforms, 14% are concerned over high prices.
Unemployment is one of the key problems - 20% of the respondents said it is a problem for themselves and their relatives. Among other problems are healthcare, expensive utilities, bad roads.
The poll was conducted from January 23 to March 4 and involved 1,513 residents over 18. The error was +/- 2.5%.
