The parents of 15 soldiers who were killed in a fire in the barracks of one of the military units in the village of Azat, Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia, today, after meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, did not disclose the details of the meeting, referring to a closed format.
"We met and discussed issues about which the prime minister could be misinformed. We have facts, photos, we showed them to him in order to understand how informed he is. We were told that they would study and answer," the father of one of the soldiers, Armen Barseghyan, told reporters. According to him, another meeting is planned, but the dates have not yet been specified.
According to another participant in the meeting, Pashinyan was not aware of some of the details. He did not specify what it was about.
It is noteworthy that the lawyer of the servicemen parents Norayr Norikyan was not present at the meeting. A fire broke out in the barracks of the engineer company in the village of Azat on the night of January 19, at 01:30. As a result, 15 servicemen were killed. According to the Investigative Committee, the cause of the fire was the use of gasoline for heating. A violation of safety rules, led to dire consequences. Seven senior officials of the military unit were dismissed from their posts, including the commander of the second army corps, the chief of staff for the rear of the corps, the deputy commander for combat duty, the head of the engineering service, the commander of the engineer-sapper company and the head of the fire safety of the logistic support of the RA Armed Forces.
On April 21, relatives and friends of 15 dead servicemen held a protest action in front of the RA government building. They demanded a meeting with the Prime Minister and the head of the Defense Ministry.
