ArmInfo. Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin justified Azerbaijan's illegal establishment of a checkpoint on the Goris-Stepankert road in the Berdzor/Lachin corridor.
So, Kalyn assured that "Nagorno-Karabakh is allegedly Azerbaijan", forgetting that Artsakh self- determined more than 30 years ago in all procedures for secession from the Soviet Union. "We are talking about the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and bringing other meanings here will not contribute to the contribution to the process," Kalyn said.
Then he spoke about some guarantees provided by "Azerbaijan to the Armenians" living in Stepanakert and its surroundings. "Azerbaijan has proposed a model for the security of their lives and property, which we consider one of the main backbones of the peace process," he added, forgetting to talk about how Azerbaijan has been terrorizing the civilian population of Artsakh for almost 140 days, shelling civilians doing agricultural work, turning off the power and gas in cold winter conditions. In conclusion, he once again stressed that the peace agreement to be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia will bring great economic benefits to Yerevan and will have an impact on its relations with Turkey.
Let's also add that today, in response to the Canadian Foreign Ministry's request to Azerbaijan to lift the blockade of the Berdzor corridor, the opposing side made another ridiculous statement, assuring that the corridor is allegedly open.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan stated that "the border checkpoint will regulate the regime of entry and exit to the road from the border."
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan added that "in accordance with the obligations under the tripartite statement, within the framework of this additional measure, which guarantees the safety of the movement of citizens, vehicles and goods along the Lachin road from Azerbaijan", meanwhile forgetting that there should be no Azerbaijani armed forces at all in this corridor as part of the abovementioned statement.
It should be noted that on April 23, in the afternoon, Azerbaijan officially announced the establishment of a checkpoint on the Lachin (Berdzor)-Stepanakert road. At the same time, the border service of the enemy side cited another false argument as the reason for establishing the checkpoint, allegedly it was established in order to prevent the transfer of manpower, ammunition, mines, as well as other military equipment from Armenia to Artsakh. The installation of a checkpoint in the corridor runs counter to point 6 of the tripartite statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia dated November 9, 2020. The Azerbaijani side also noted that the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and the Russian- Turkish Monitoring Center were informed about this fact. The Armenian Foreign Ministry stated that the establishment of the checkpoint is a gross violation of the tripartite statement of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in 2020. In response, Bakusaid that the establishment of a checkpoint is a "legitimate step."
We also add that earlier the International Court of Justice on February 22 ordered Azerbaijan to lift the blockade the Berdzor corridor, which has been under Azerbaijani siege since December 12, 2020. However, Azerbaijan still ignores this verdict. All this processes are happening against the backdrop of the inaction of the international community.
