


ArmInfo.The Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia, chaired by Judge Vardges Sargsyan, has extended the term of arrest of the former commander of the Defense Army of the Republic of Artsakh (NKR), Lieutenant General Mikayel Arzumanyan, for three months.
The first court session in the case of Mikayel Arzumanyan, during which the issue of extending or canceling the preventive measure, was discussed, was held behind closed doors.
Mikael Arzumanyan was arrested for two months in September 2022. The ex-commander of the Defense Army, chief adviser to the President of Artsakh Mikael Arzumanyan was charged under part 4 of article 375 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, adopted on April 18, 2003 (corresponds to part 3 of article 549 of the current Criminal Code) (excess or abuse of power - ed. note) for the order "retreat" given to the convoy that liberated the "Arega" height and adjacent combat positions during the 2020 war in Artsakh.
As part of another criminal proceeding for official negligence shown in organizing the defense of the city of Shushi and adjacent areas, on August 30, M.A. was charged under Part 3 of Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Armenia adopted on April 18, 2003 (corresponds to Part 3 of Article 550 of the current Criminal Code of Armenia - military negligence).
