ArmInfo. Despite the militant rhetoric of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan believes in the peace agenda.
"It is important for us that a system of guarantees be provided for in the negotiations. And the fact that there is no guarantee is the most important point of today's international situation. Today there is no country in the world that can say: I guarantee that this will happen tomorrow, including in connection with their own security>, he said on April 20 in an interview with journalists in parliament. When asked why, in this case, Armenia is signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, the head of the Cabinet replied: "It is not yet a fact that we will sign it."
The prime minister confirmed his readiness to sign the document, because " without doing so it is guaranteed that everything will be the way we don't want it to be. While by signing it the probability that it won't happen that way increases significantly," he explained.
Yesterday, Pashinyan in the National Assembly confirmed the readiness of the Republic of Armenia to recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. He also urged to fix that Armenia has no territorial claims to other countries. According to him, if this idea is not fixed in the popular consciousness, then no one will allow Armenia to develop, "because no one will put up with the idea that we are developing, getting stronger and can direct this power against others, expand our territories of the country>. "Moreover, in this situation, the agenda of others will not only impede our development, but also the existence of our statehood. In this situation, no one will help us," Pashinyan said. At the same time, Pashinyan admits that after the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan is in euphoria and seeks to get more, and, if possible, take everything. Pashinyan assured that he sincerely strives to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as soon as possible. "This treaty will become realistic if both countries mutually recognize territorial integrity and undertake not to make territorial claims against each other. In fact, the agreement with the President of Azerbaijan in Sochi and Prague was about this,> he stressed.
