ArmInfo. President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, by his yesterday's statement once again demonstrated his aggressiveness towards Armenia and the Armenian people. President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan announced this to journalists on April 19.
He stressed that with this statement, Aliyev showed the international community his method of working on the negotiation process, which is quite typical for him, taking into account the form of governance of an unfree country. In almost all negotiating platforms, a different reality is noticeable. "I have a negative attitude towards such statements, and I think that they were more aimed at an internal audience," the Speaker said, adding that one should not look for any conclusions from the fact that the speech of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan in the RA National Assembly and Ilham Aliyev's speech coincided in time.
As for the penetration of the Azerbaijani army into the territory of Armenia, the speaker believes that this fact should not be taken as a failure in ensuring the country's security. There have been many cases when Armenian citizens accidentally crossed the border of Azerbaijani territory and were not found immediately. "I do not think that this fact should be a measure of the quality of our country's security system. There is no need to draw parallels, but we should be careful from such incidents>, Simonyan noted. He again repeated the version of the authorities that the Azerbaijani servicemen were deserters who tried to cross from Nakhichevan to Azerbaijan. To the remark that Baku demanded their return, Simonyan replied that the Armenian side had been "demanding the return of our POWs" for a long time. <Legal assessments must be given. But personally, I demand that Azerbaijan return 33 Armenian POWs, and I do this on all international platforms," the Speaker stressed. As for the continued stay of the ruling force in power, as the NA President stressed, if the people say that they do not accept its visions, it will leave.
